Good afternoon, everyone

I know that I have not been writing consistently and uploading photo as I would like. Life has been getting in the way of my passion for photography.

Recent events and my health have made me lose my fulltime job however, resting and having less stress is always good.

If this is not my sign, then I don’t know what it. This is my I need to hit the ground running and market my self as a photographer.

One of the things that I have done is join the TIKTOK trend and YouTube.

Nothing in my TikTok’s is planned or scripted so people see the real me. The insecure, stuttering anxiety me.

My TikTok’s is about teaching people how to view things or teaching through the photographer eye.

I am even trying to teach people to be self-aware while being the photographer.

I have attached my very 1st TikTok that I made on April 5th, 2022.

Please let me know if you have any questions or Idea’s for me to do a TikTok.

Once I have enough followers then I can go live and really teach.

Chapt 1 How to train your eye in photography

30-Day Change of view "Self Portrait" challenge

Day 1

How do I start...

I started with setting up my 3400 DSLR Nikon camera, then I started putting on make-up.

I don't normally put make-up on so I felt completely lost.

I tried using Youtube but then my eyes started looking like racoons and the foundation that was suggested for my face looked like I have been a vampire hiding from over a century.

I washed everything off, took a deep breath and started over.

My first layer was a redness correction, then second layer I used 2 different foundations mixed them on my hand and used a brush.

My face now looked like Bella before she turned into a vampire and then I used my moms old power foundation on which she is WAY darker then me but I put it on lightly and suddenly I had color on my face.

I put a little blush.

Then lips stick eyeliner and mascara.

I had to do several takes because apparently my whole body was shaking and it was showing through.

I did what I usually do when I am taking pictures or doing archery.

I took a deep breath pressed the shutter-release and waited for the timer.

Those pictures are the results after 4 hours.

What I learned about my self is that I did not realize how uncomfortable I am taking my own pictures that my whole body was shaking.

I also learned how to mix make-up

I also learned that I took a step in the right direction with positive results.

Join me for a 30-day "Self Portrait" change of view challenge and reply with your results and what you learned.

Here are the rules if you want to join.

1) No instagram or social media filters.

2) No spending money.

3) Use what you already have

4) Have fun and make magic

See ya next week for Day 2

You can tell how much a person has self esteem by looking at how they walk and stand.

I try really hard to make sure people look good through the lens.

Some people it comes naturally and for others its the hardest thing that they have ever done.

I fall under the hard category.

I will be making a series of blogs with attached pictures of my journey.

My self esteem is not so high and that is one of the reasons why I am mostly behind the lens,

and if I can change it then I can try to change other's perspective on how they view themselves.

What do you guys think?

Fond Memories.

Do you have any strong memories to a specific picture?

This first one my mom does.

My mom, my self and cousin were walking down the streets to walk to El Morro (One of the forts in San Juan) We would normally take the fiery in Catano, to go through the lagoon and then go to San Juan.

This time we decided to take a different route and we all saw this amazing few.

This picture represents the last time the family was together and before Covid 19 took my grandfather away from us.

The second picture it takes me back.

Every time I was with my grandmother she used to take me to this park in San Juan. It is called "Parque de las Palomas" Pigeon Park translated.

My big brother and I would play in this park often with her and would feed the birds our memories would include paying 10 cents to the man who would take us in the small boat and then he would let us be in the front with the captain and see all of the buttons.

once she lost her eyesight due to diabetes we stopped going and after she passed and we moved to Arizona one of the first places we always went to was this park because of my grandmother.

The remaining pictures that I have attached is more of the park for your viewing pleasure.

Exploring Jerome! (Part 1)

Jerome Grand Hotel

Jerome Arizona is known for it's rich history, ghost hunts and shops.

Brief history: This building was first built in 1926 and it was a hospital called United Verde Hospital. It was a hospital from 1926 - 1950.

It also housed the staff and it was the most modern hospital in western United States and Arizona in 1930. In 1993 it was bought by the mining company and turned it onto a hotel. They still own it to this day.

My friends and I stayed in the Jerome Grand Hotel, we ok especially me loved how much history it has and it it still had original furniture.

To me it's all fascinating and for others they were looking to see if they saw a ghost.

I personally did not see anything and I stayed up. (Can't sleep in new places)

We decided to walk around before the sun went down and before it snowed again and with a few edits the pictures showed what I was feeling.

Historic with beauty and history.

I will return again and go exploring. The road is snowed in and closed but we will return and add a few more parts to continue the series

Stay tuned for more.

Does anyone have any "experiences" from staying in Jerome Grand Hotel?

There is nothing like watching a sun set.

When ever I have a bad day no matter where I go I can watch the sun sets in Arizona. It's like you are in a deep meditated state seeing the different colors of reds and oranges as the sun goes down.

You know that the end of the day is coming to a close and a new day will arise to start new.

With everyday that we continue to be indoors to stay safe due to Covid 19. I appreciate every picture that I have taken outside in the past.

Please continue to stay safe, healthy and call your family.

Appreciate that we can use technology to follow up with our friends and family.

20200913_13085220200913_130852

With a new year, hope comes with it!

I don't know about you, but I am grateful 2020 is over! From loss if jobs several times, loss of family members due to Covid 19 and not finding toilet paper the year just kept giving.

I completely loss all motivation, inspiration and the will to even take pictures. The general public seemed like they were getting meaner and meaner with each passing day and months. I even found that I myself was getting the same attitude not only was Covid 19 contagious but also the negativity that lingered with it like a shadow following each move.

New years eve made me realize that I had a decision to make. I would either continue my dark path of complaining, and not really living life or make a change.

I saw this flower in Boise Idaho at the state Capital surrounded by juniper berry bushes, bees and birds chirping and people all around walking by with their phones glued to their ears, complaining about politics and life through their masks.

These flowers looked like they were begging to be looked at and it got me thinking. Life should be as vibrant and as these beautiful flowers. It game me hope that I have control of my decisions with my path.

With hope comes a renewed inspiration or a new Star wars movie.

Hey guys,

I am writing this blog because I want to give you a glimpse into my creative process, so you can see all that goes into my work. It’s so much more than point and shoot. But please keep in mind that English is my SECOND language so do us both a favor and don’t judge my grammar too harshly and instead focus on the heart of what I I’m trying to covey and don’t worry so much about missing comas or what not.

Like they say it’s the PICTURES that are worth a thousand words.

Cactus Shadow

1st picture I changed the filter and trimmed it. The bottom picture is the original untouched raw image. The first one to me looks scary like a vintage scary movie and the second one looks so happy.

What do you think?

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Gray with gold boxes

The one thing that I love about this picture is that I did not have to do anything special to the camera and I did not edit the picture in anyway. I was excited that I found abstract street art without doing any filters. I actually took the pictures on a cloudy day over the art building in Mesa, Arizona. I love the gold tiles against the gray steps.

What is your favorite abstract street art?

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Light Rail & Train

One thing that I love doing is taking pictures with different contras between old and new. With this one what I love was taking the picture of the old light rail tracks and the old train tracks and the bonus part is that I was able to include the modern art that is placed next to the walk way in Tempe Town Lake in Tempe, Arizona.

What is your favorite bonus moment?

Tren Ligero Y Tren

Sedona 2 color

Sedona has been one of my favorite places to escape from phoenix and the heat. One of the many reasons would be the red rocks and the mountains. This picture grabbed my attention because of the contrast within the colors. One of the 1st thing that I noticed is the white or garish mountains the second would be the different layers that would be on the mountains that get darker and darker until the bottom half of the mountain is completely red. The last piece of the puzzle are the bright yellow sun flowers at the very bottom of the mountain side nothing screams out happiness.

Sun flowers and sunshine.

I know it’s not a real brick road or brick and it’s also not a road, but it reminded me of the yellow brick road with the grass around it and the brick to the sides. This area is used for the green area for the performers to warm up the crowds before the show.

The Red Rose

This is not just a picture of a rose to me, but this is a fond memory. On valentines day last year 2018 my fiancée surprise me for valentine’s day. He was a real ninja! I have a thing that connects to my cell phone and it hooks in my car, it tells me when my car is moving, speeding and anything wrong with my car anyway my fiancée unplugged this thing, so I would not know he was driving my car. He left work early and brought me a dozen roses and for lunch we went to pita jungle. That one red rose is what was left, and I wanted to keep the memory forever.

Cactus Flower

This picture is surprising to me just because I have been living in Arizona for a while and from one of the nights of going to the botanical gardens I looked up and I saw one of the whitest flowers that I have ever seen growing from this very tall cactus. When I first moved here, I kept seeing these tall cacti everywhere however I never would have thought that something so fragile, and delicate can come out of something that can live through sand storms and hear waves year in and year out. There is something so amazing like watching nature come alive in the desert after summer monsoon season.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

El Morro light and tower

I have a friend that would pick on me about Puerto Rico being a third world country and me being born in Puerto Rico I would tell her off. Two years ago, I went back to Puerto Rico to visit my family and I took some amazing pictures. One of them would be this one. This one I wanted to show the islands rich Spanish history with the modern lights. This one surprised me that it turned out so well because I am so short, so it was a little difficult to align the frame to where I needed it to go but I made it work.

Forest Reflection

Abandoned house but it is owned by the city or the state in Missouri. This house is to show people how the early settlers used to live, and, in this picture, I just had my phone camera but with a little color editing the forest came ALIVE! through the reflection of the window. I know people have keep telling me that I have the “eye” for taking pictures but sometimes I just surprise myself. I just love the rustic wooden frame from the abandoned home.

Samurai Shadow

I was practicing with my gently used camera that was given to me with using only things around the house. This samurai is something that my fiancée has on a book shelf. I noticed with the lights that we have in the bedroom, it was creating such a wonderful shadow against the book shelf that the wood looks like bamboo “happy accident”. I decided to take the picture with the samurai but the only edit that I did was just cut the actual samurai out of the picture. People started to comment how lovely the picture is, so I just left things alone. Why edit something that does not need editing.

Icicle Lights

There is nothing like icicle lights when turn on just look so magical. The way the other lights just sparkle and to me look like they are real. Real for me just because we live in Arizona and nowhere around where it snows.

Well we could see snow, but we would have to drive a couple of hours up north and well that’s for next adventure.

What is your favorite Christmas lights? Comment and attach picture below.

Comentar y adjuntar imagen a continuación.

“Tolkien Symbol”

This is my Christmas ornament chosen by my fiancée. This is JRR Tolkien (The famous writer) For those who don’t know what its say’s there are few who does and let alone can read it.

It reads “one ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them”

I love lord of the rings so much that our themed for our wedding is based on Lord of the rings.

What is your favorite ornament? Comment and attach picture below

Holiday Christmas light

This one is one that I took today after my fiancée and I finished decorating our house. After we did the finishing touches I grabbed my new Nkon camera and I was trying to take details pictures of our decorations and this as always surprised me because I took a picture through our clear Christmas ornaments but then I saw the small light icicle through the clear ornament and I focused the camera on the icicle and here is the finishing picture.

Edison light big and bright

There is one thing about taking a beautiful picture and thinking about where to place it, lighting and so on but the other thing is when you where told to take pictures on your lunch break when that day you have a no lunch break due to be a short day for a temporary job. What do I do? While no one is looking nor in the office being left alone I whip out my camera and for the first time I go to the back while still looking by the front door to help people if they show up and I start taking pictures.

I start taking pictures as fast as possible on different angles and these lights bulbs I notice the longer they are on the bright they become. There is also a sound they make when you start turning them on as well. Edison lights I would say they are my favorite it just brings character to the room.

Well these Edison light bulbs where attached to these huge glass bulbs that most of them I could not reach and the others I could, with a swift move I would put the camera in different angles. Underneath, to the side anything I can get my hands on. This shot was a point and shoot and by a miracle and quick thinking, this is absolutely my favorite pictures.

what has been the best edison light that you have seen?

Edison luz grande y brillante

Rain Lamp

Rain lamps where invented back in the 60’s and 70’s it was like a lava lamp for your grandparents or like my mother she still has hers working perfectly. I was bringing my mother back from a doctor’s appointment and I started showing her my professional camera and then she started showing me some of her knickknacks to try out my camera and she also wanted to walk around her front yard and back yard to take pictures of her roses.

My mom decided to show me her rain lamp and I haven’t seen that lamp turned on since the 90’s and when she turned it on it was like she turning on my memories of my child hood well actually my teenage years so I started taking pictures and this one that I have attached is one of my favorites I hope you enjoy.

if you still have your Rain Lamp please place a picture and comment below

Hey guys,

But please keep in mind that English is my SECOND language so do us both a favor and don’t judge my grammar too harshly and instead focus on the heart of what I I’m trying to covey and don’t worry so much about missing comas or what not.

Like they say it’s the PICTURES that are worth a thousand words.

“Vices & Virtues”

This picture I thought of while entering a competition. I was looking for examples and all I kept seeing was people smoking for example, I saw pictures of just a person in a corner smoking and other pictures it was a person blowing out smoke and the focus was on the actual smoke hanging in the air as it left the persons mouth they exhaled.

My family and I don’t smoke so that was out of the picture. Then I was looking at other pictures still from the same contest and I saw expensive studios with great lighting and tables especially made for selling products I mean advertising and the focus was the fancy and expensive alcoholic beverage that a local Fry’s don’t carry or those top shelves where they tax you for even looking at the product.

So, then I started thinking, it’s not about the expensive things or focus on the things that you don’t have is about using the things that you do have and make it work.

I used a one of those JoAnne’s fake books (they look like books from the outside but when you open it it’s hollow on the inside) Holy water and I found in a cabinet a mini bottle of Jack Daniels and I made it work.

I was surprised when I entered the contest I made it to top 5 so I was happy with what I have accomplished.

"Vicios y virtudes"

“White flower red stems”

This one is a funny story. I sed to work in property management and the community was close to a senior center. I was trying to get ideas for activities for the seniors and a golden ager walked in the office, she introduced herself to me and that she volunteers at the senior center she began asking if we can work together. I was excited on the thought, she was explaining about the other volunteers who work on the community gardens. She was very passionate about this garden and started to tell me about the history and that this community garden was built from part of the parking lot.

She then asked if I had fifteen minutes to spare I looked around and made sure no one needed me for the next fifteen and then she invited me to go in her car. At first, I was like stranger danger but then she kept going on about the vegetable gardens and then the chickens and I was like ok.

We drove to the senior center and she reminded me of a child showing me all her treasures. I took multiple pictures of the flowers, vegetables and the animals as she kept talking.

I have never heard of this before and I even shared it on social media.

"Flor blanca tallos rojos"

“Yellow flower wall”

This is one of my “happy accidents” where no one noticed the beauty that was in front of them. My friends and I where trying to find a parking space to park, so we can all hike oak creek canyon and well by the time we got there the entire parking lot was full. The park rangers even had a huge sign that said “lot full” so we had to turn around and find somewhere else to park because with an SUV full of determined woman you know there was going to be a parking spot for us well back on our adventure we actually found a spot it wasn’t really a spot however there was no sign that said no parking and there wo no sign that sign tow away zone so we parking against the makeshift parking spot against the maintain.

Five women getting out of an SUV with oncoming traffic guess who felt like they where in a human game of “Frogger” We kept looking for oncoming traffic and with the little space that we had we actually had to be really close to the mountain so we would not get squashed. The other ladies where against the wall I saw some fantastic flowers growing next to the mountains and with picture I had to be quick and precise and then to run across the road. Now that was some quick point and shoot and run.

After we where all tired and was back in out Airbnb I started to show the rest of the ladies that one specific picture and the rest of the ladies couldn’t even remember seeing anything like the picture I was showing them.

By the end of the trip they wanted me to share all the pictures that I have taken with them.

“Mini Grand Hotel”

During our time in Jerome Arizona, we walked around a lot outside and we were reading all of their signs and getting the know Jerome’s rich history as well as we were going inside all of the shops and the mini museums. One of the things that I noticed was the old-fashioned pictures.

The way the texture was on the material of the picture as well as the true black and white. I mention this because you don’t see the true black and white anymore it is all digital and anyone can manipulate the color with today’s technology.

I noticed on how people back then were taking pictures of there new hotel and for us we are looking at history. I tried to recreate the same feeling of the rich history with this picture.

I am not sure that the Grand Hotel is going to remodel the outside of the hotel or not but if they do I may have the last few pictures before they “Modernize” the history filled hotel.

"chiquito Grand Hotel"

Like they say it’s the PICTURES that are worth a thousand words.

“Jerome Grand Hotel Clock”

Before the Grand hotel was starting to remodel the inside of the rooms my best friend, her husband, my fiancée, and myself decided to go to Jerome Arizona to do some amateur “ghost hunting” in the hotel room. I even stayed up all night to see if I could “see” anything. My best friend and I even decided to go exploring through the halls at night.

This is one of my favorite pictures of me trying to “catch” a manifestation of some kind but still trying not to get my own reflection or my best friend’s reflection as well and when I took another look at it, it became one of my favorites. It was to me one of those happy accidents not because I took the picture of an old clock sitting on a night stand but because to me it was part of Jerome and what it signifies.

For years people have been telling me that I have the eye to take pictures and most of those comments used to be from my family. You know your family and you know that most family members would say almost anything to support you but then strangers where telling me that I have an eye for photography and where do I sell my pictures well then, I started to listen. (Sorry family I love you!!)

I hope to whoever is reading this had a chance to look at my portfolio and enjoy the images as much as I do.

Jerome Grand Hotel Reloj

My logo has been seen as a child, it is something that as Puerto Rican children been taught in school. They even would take us to museums to look at prehistoric drawings from the Indio Tainos. It is part of our rich history as it is part of our DNA. The symbol is actually of an old Indian drawing of a frog. The last time I went back home to visit my family in Puerto Rico I saw those drawings again and my childhood flooding back into my mind. As a Puerto Rican living in the desert of Arizona and putting my logo in my pictures it means that this island girl can survive anywhere. I say that because it was believed that the frog "El Coqui" could only survive in the island of Puerto Rico however, it was accidentally introduced in Maui in 1988 and now it's thriving. Well more of a nuisance to them but you know I love the coqui.
